Land titling promoted in Leyte towns

Regions - Leyte

The Department of Environment and Natural Resources has set base camps in Hilongos, Hindang and Matalom of Leyte province so that the town residents may avail of the agency’s land titling services right at their door steps.

“This is actually bringing the land titling services of the DENR closer to the people. A lot of money, time and effort will be saved because they will no longer have to go to the head office to apply for and acquire land title,” said Purificasion Daloos, DENR regional public affairs officer. "The landowners should visit the base camps and file their applications starting August."

The base camps, which are under the Land Administration and Management Project, would be transferred to other municipalities after six to twelve months.

"We have to extend the same services to the other municipalities,” Daloos said.

In 2007, the Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office in Leyte yielded the most number of patent issuances as a result of the project implementation in the province. Some 7,806 free patents were issued covering an area of 4,684 hectares.
