TIGAON, Camarines Sur — The 3rd district engineering office of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) in Camarines Sur reported yesterday that three farm-to-market road projects in Barangays Gubat, Tinawagan, and Libod, this town, have been completed and are now benefiting the farmers in the three villages.
In a report to Region 5 Director Orlando B. Roces and Assistant Regional Director Oscar C. Cristobal, District Engineer Eduardo S. Nieto stated that the three barangay roads are located at the foot of Mount Isarog.
In the past, only horse-drawn carts could reach the area.
Nieto said that the money for the projects was provided by Rep. Arnulfo "Noli" Fuentebella (3rd district, Camarines Sur) from his "priority development assistance fund."
Nieto said the program of work on the five-kilometer road includes sub-grade preparation, aggregate base course, (portland cement) concrete pavement, installation of billboards, and warning signs.
"Since time immemorial, the road going to these three barangays had been impassable by all kinds of vehicles due to deep potholes, and only horse-drawn carts could pass through it," Nieto said.
But today, the district engineer said, the road is concreted and passable by all kinds of vehicles, and as a result, farm produce can now be easily brought to the market.
He said that the farmers who are beneficiaries of the projects thanked Congressman Fuentebella, the DWH and the administration of President Arroyo for the realization of the projects.
